Energy Efficiency Existing Ship Index (EEXI)

ESG Metrics

The EEXI provides a framework for determining the efficiency of the design of a vessel by expressing its energy efficiency / emissions performance. EEXI regulation relates to existing ships, but each ship type has different factors to consider (the strictest requirements are applied to bulk carriers).

The calculation of EEXI relates to the reference ship speed (Vref) at a particular draft of the vessel.

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is a methodology that assesses the impact of additional energy efficiency technologies on the Vref.
