Along with EEDI, the IMO introduced the Ship energy efficiency management plan (SEEMP). It is the complementary measure that establishes a mechanism to improve the energy efficiency of a ship in a cost-effective manner.
SEEMP includes the enhancement of the ship’s efficiency in terms of the reduction of fuel consumption and the decrease of GHG emissions from the ship.
