Digital Disruption (reference video streaming / Uber, as heavily disrupted segments) is a phrase used in the technology industry to invoke a fear factor amongst players that is not necessarily real. In shipping, digital disruption is not happening. Why? Is it too physical an industry? What is true to say is that that shipping is undergoing Digital Transformation, where new tools are being applied to existing methodologies as they exist.
This does not invoke new technology as such, but rather optimises and improves by leveraging all insights through a recognition of where the gaps exist
